Mabel….what a little mess

I saw a picture of Mabel when she was a day or so old…..she was laying with her mother and siblings….. sprawled out just like this.

This is how she sleeps most of the time.

She is really growing,  you can see here that she is getting a lot of freckles on her tummy.

We keep putting her in the fence with Ellie and the goats, that she is supposed to be protecting.  About 20 minutes later….here comes Mabel.  She is still small enough to get through the fence.  I will be really, really glad when she can no longer do that.

A couple of weeks ago it rained the whole week.  We ended up with about 5 inches of rainfall.  It was needed, but I guess it made Mabel bored.  She couldn’t or wouldn’t get out in the rain and burn up energy running and playing.  She gravitated to the garage……

where she found my mop….part of a green poncho…and a rag she helped herself to.

This is my mop…..or what is left of it.

One of my potted plants…..I never found the plant.  But I have found a lot of treasures spread out in the front yard.  Oddly enough….none of them are the chew toys that she IS allowed to have.

I think this little butterfly may have excited her….it was on a stick, in that potted plant, the wings would move with the wind.   Needless to say she destroyed that too.

Hmmmm, Mabel again…….

When we are ready to settle down for the evening we let her come inside with us until bed time.   We have learned to NEVER…EVER…EVER….leave her alone in the house.  I mentioned before that she loves to get our shoes.  She knows right where the closet is….and out she will come with a shoe…or two, but she never hurt them.

Until recently.  The door now stays closed to the bedroom when Mabel comes in. I really liked that shoe……apparently she did too.

She has her good moments…..

Ellie is teaching her how to go get the paper in the mornings. Knowing she still gets a treat….even if Mabel does all the work!

She uses her cuteness to make up for all the destruction she does.

I have to admit…..they are sweet together.  For the most part Ellie has adapted really well to having her around.

Sometimes Ellie waits until Mabel gets to the top of the driveway with the paper…….

then she takes it from her…..and tries to get all the praise.

Mabel has gotten pretty good at retrieving the paper, so good in fact that if the paper boy is late and we don’t pick it up quickly……

then Mabel will go ahead and get it without us……

and read it herself.

Oh, you gotta laugh….or you would CRY.   Which I think I did when I saw all this mess!

Yep, I’m ready for her to stay in the fence a little bit.
