ONE DAY….

Well, I would love to write about the animals today….but truth is…there isn’t anything new to write.  They are freezing along with everyone else.

Since we have had such a cold winter this year, I have tackled a few things on my “one day” list.  You probably have a list like that as well.

You know…. it’s that list you make as you see things that need more time and attention than you have at the present time.

For instance I have had this garbage that has been wearing the sticker on the side for… well…..let’s just say a long time.  Anyway, I attempted to pull it off one day.  That just opened a can of worms.  Part of the sticker came off…the rest stayed on.  Yes, I tried warm soapy water, windex, and all the standard cleaning stuff.  BUT…to no avail.  The parts that came off were really just the top paper part, leaving the sticky part on the can.  Of course that just makes things worse because dirt and grime just stick all the more.  SO …. that was one of the things I put on my…one day…when I have time…I’m gonna tackle that trash can one more time.

AND SO I DID…..

AND TA-DA…..it’s clean as a whistle!  NO STICKY LEFT.

What did I do?  I’m so glad you asked.

Actually, I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to learn this little trick.  Kind of makes me irritated that I hadn’t thought of it earlier in life.

I used Pam cooking Spray.  It took all of about 1 minute for the sticky to come off.  Of course….it makes sense….it’s oil.

I’ve been using oil lately to take labels off jars and things that I want to reuse.

During Christmas when I got tree sap on my hands from decorating with live tree limbs, I put vegetable oil or Pam Spray on them and instantly the sap came off.

Trash can clean….WOO HOO.

Alright, now one more thing I marked off my list was curtains for a bedroom.  The shams are not used on the pillows in this room.  I have looked and looked for some curtains and just couldn’t find what I wanted.

I am NOT a seamstress AT ALL.  Matter of fact all my poor home economic teachers would cringe if they saw any of the items I have sewed.  But that’s alright.  I passed the class and bless their hearts, they did all they could.

Here is a picture of the room before.

I decided to use the pillow shams for curtains.  I made a seam across the top….longways across each sham.  I left enough room for the size rod I would be using….then another seam, making a pocket for the rod.

Billy hung the rod for me…

He also hung the little mirror wall decor…..

Finished!

They aren’t anything special…but I used what I had.  I even already had the curtain rod…so it worked out nice.

I love to think outside the box….finding uses for items that aren’t intended for that particular purpose.

I especially like it….when it turns out.

Now…It’s time to tackle some more things on that “ONE DAY” list.  Because frankly when Spring rolls around…I plan to be OUTSIDE with the critters!

I’m Right Here

Billy and I went to the Gulf for a few days.  The weather was so beautiful, much warmer than what we are having at home.  There was a cool day here and there, but all in all the weather was perfect for this time of year.

I was troubled by a comment I had just heard on the computer.  A beautiful young lady commented about being an Atheist.  I looked up from the computer screen and peered out the window trying to grasp things I had just heard.

And that’s when I saw this.

The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.

WOW….How Majestic is Our Lord.

It was as if God was saying….I’M RIGHT HERE!

Everyone can believe as they choose.

As for me…I believe.

It isn’t because I saw a beautiful sunset.  However, I am thankful that He reveals Himself through creation, so I can lovingly be reminded to always give Him glory, honor and praise.

Romans 1:20

King James Version (KJV)

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Baby….. It’s Cold Outside……

We are NOT used to COLD weather, BUT it is COLD.

Saturday, before the really, really cold weather hit we checked in on all the animals.

I cut up some apples for the donkey ‘s and ponies.  Ended up that only the donkey’s came around for those….

I’m not sure Billy could have handled any more mouths at one time anyway…

They love him……and his treats!

100_8648

I was glad to see that for the first time…..our baby Jill…trusted him enough to come up and be hand fed.   That is a great sign that she is warming up to us.

100_8644

This is Shirley…she is licking her lips, and has milk on her nose.  She just nursed her mother Cupid.  Remember….Shirley was Laverne’s twin sister.  She has gotten pretty big, just as God designed it, her mother’s milk has made her big and strong.

Of course I had to baby talk my adopted baby….TUG.   He is so sweet.

100_8636

He and Billy are buds too.

100_8642

After he loves on us….he goes back to his other adopted Mother…Brandy.  She took Tug in and has nurtured him along with her baby girl, Madre.

100_8654

Tug is on the left and Madre is on the right.

Not all cows will do that….she and Punkin both nursed Tug.  He tends to hang out a little bit more with Brandy though.  Interesting that his real mother (Bailey) still doesn’t really pay him any attention.

I am hoping that she will be a better mother this next time.  If she isn’t than we have been advised to sale her.  We will see, I have high hopes that she will do better.  Often,  humans rise to the occasion when given a second chance, perhaps she will too.

Billy’s been hard at work before and now during this cold spell.

The goats, chickens and cows seem to be alright for now.  I hate it for all of them.  It is really hard to adapt when you aren’t used to the cold.  So far they have been real troopers.  Billy has been such a good care taker.  He does all the hard stuff.

The animals and I are fortunate to have such a caring person to share this life with.  He has been making sure we are all as warm as he can make us.

One way the animals stay warm is to keep food in them.  They are eating machines right now.  He keeps the hay ring full so they can keep going.  I try to keep his belly full….so he can keep going.

We have had plenty of treats, especially since Christmas…so…..

I found a recipe for some treats that all the animals could have.

100_8658

They have oats and molasses in them….

The recipe made up a good little batch.

Billy hand fed one to each of the big goats this morning, they seemed to really like them.

Hmmmmmm…….Now that I think about it….It seems that the animals and us humans aren’t very different at all.

That is what Billy and I are doing….eating(lots) and trying to stay warm too.
