Well, I would love to write about the animals today….but truth is…there isn’t anything new to write. They are freezing along with everyone else.
Since we have had such a cold winter this year, I have tackled a few things on my “one day” list. You probably have a list like that as well.
You know…. it’s that list you make as you see things that need more time and attention than you have at the present time.
For instance I have had this garbage that has been wearing the sticker on the side for… well…..let’s just say a long time. Anyway, I attempted to pull it off one day. That just opened a can of worms. Part of the sticker came off…the rest stayed on. Yes, I tried warm soapy water, windex, and all the standard cleaning stuff. BUT…to no avail. The parts that came off were really just the top paper part, leaving the sticky part on the can. Of course that just makes things worse because dirt and grime just stick all the more. SO …. that was one of the things I put on my…one day…when I have time…I’m gonna tackle that trash can one more time.
AND SO I DID…..
AND TA-DA…..it’s clean as a whistle! NO STICKY LEFT.
What did I do? I’m so glad you asked.
Actually, I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to learn this little trick. Kind of makes me irritated that I hadn’t thought of it earlier in life.
I used Pam cooking Spray. It took all of about 1 minute for the sticky to come off. Of course….it makes sense….it’s oil.
I’ve been using oil lately to take labels off jars and things that I want to reuse.
During Christmas when I got tree sap on my hands from decorating with live tree limbs, I put vegetable oil or Pam Spray on them and instantly the sap came off.
Trash can clean….WOO HOO.
Alright, now one more thing I marked off my list was curtains for a bedroom. The shams are not used on the pillows in this room. I have looked and looked for some curtains and just couldn’t find what I wanted.
I am NOT a seamstress AT ALL. Matter of fact all my poor home economic teachers would cringe if they saw any of the items I have sewed. But that’s alright. I passed the class and bless their hearts, they did all they could.
Here is a picture of the room before.
I decided to use the pillow shams for curtains. I made a seam across the top….longways across each sham. I left enough room for the size rod I would be using….then another seam, making a pocket for the rod.
Billy hung the rod for me…
He also hung the little mirror wall decor…..
Finished!
They aren’t anything special…but I used what I had. I even already had the curtain rod…so it worked out nice.
I love to think outside the box….finding uses for items that aren’t intended for that particular purpose.
I especially like it….when it turns out.
Now…It’s time to tackle some more things on that “ONE DAY” list. Because frankly when Spring rolls around…I plan to be OUTSIDE with the critters!
