Waste Not Want Not

I like finding out helpful hints…so I decided I would throw a few in every once in a while.   Such as this one.

When I was much younger…like pre-teen.  I learned a little something that I had no idea I would use as I got older…in my own home.  Matter of fact I thought it was dumb.  But then again at that age everything is worthy of  eye rolling.  When age hit me and I began to make my own money….I decided this little trick was a wise one.

I helped a lady clean and she cut the steel wool and handed me a small piece to clean with.  (EYE-ROLL)

I do this now.  It keeps me from having that gross piece hanging around.  You know…you hate to throw it away ($), because you didn’t use it all, but it lays there and leaves a rust spot.

They sell small ones now.  I just buy the bigger ones for the times I need a big one.  Then I cut a few of those up into halves or fourths and put them in a baggie inside the original box.

When I need a piece of steel wool….I pull out the size I need for the job.  Less expensive than buying two size boxes.

It works for me…I usually use up that small piece on the job intended and I can throw away the remnant and not waste any and not have the gross piece laying around.

I hope she didn’t see me roll my eyes…I actually owe her a thank you for teaching me many things…this is just one of them! (SMILE)
